Meet the road captain where he will give a short briefing about the safety and proceed for the sightseeing tour on a motorbike. Today we will be riding heritage sites in Kathmandu City, Swayambhunath&Patan City. KATHMANDU CITY Listed as one of the eight Cultural World Heritage sites by UNESCO, Kathmandu Durbar Square is a cluster of ancient temples, palaces, courtyards and streets that date back to the 12th to 18th centuries. The square is known to be the social, religious and urban focal point of the Capital City. The Palace Complex was the Royal Nepalese residence until the 19th century and is the site of important ceremonies, such as the coronation of the Nepalese monarch. The palace is decorated with elaborately-carved wooden windows and panels. It houses King Tribhuvan Memorial Museum and the Mahendra Museum. Kathmandu Durbar Square was where the city’s Kings were once crowned and legitimized, and from where they ruled (Durbar means ‘Palace’). As such, the square remains the traditional heart of the old town and Kathmandu’s most spectacular legacy of traditional architecture. BOUDHANATH: Boudhanath is a stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. Located about 11 km (6.8 mi) from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, the stupa massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal. The ancient Stupa is one of the largest in the world. The influx of large populations of refugees from Tibet has seen the construction of over 50 Tibetan Gompas (Monasteries) around Boudhanath. As of 1979, Boudhanath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site PASHUPAPTINATH The Pashupatinath Temple is a famous, sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Pashupatinath and is located on the banks of the Bagmati River 5 kilometers north-east of Kathmandu Valley in the eastern part of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. This temple is considered one of the sacred temples of Hindu faith.The temple serves as the seat of the national deity, Lord Pashupatinath.This temple complex is on UNESCO World Heritage Sites list since 1979. PATAN DURBAR SQUARE Patan Durbar Square is situated at the center of the city of Lalitpur in Nepal. It is one of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. One of its attraction is the ancient royal palace where the Malla Kings of Lalitpur resided. The Durbar Square is a marvel of Newar architecture. The Square floor is tiled with red bricks. There are many temples and idols in the area. The main temples are aligned opposite of the western face of the palace. The entrance of the temples faces east, towards the palace. There is also a bell situated in the alignment beside the main temples. The Square also holds old Newari residential houses. There are various other temples and structures in and around Patan Durbar Square built by the Newa People. BHAKTAPUR DURBAR SQUARE Bhaktapur Durbar Square is the plaza in front of the royal palace of the old Bhaktapur Kingdom, 1400m above sea level. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located in the current town of Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon, which lies 13 km east of Kathmandu. While the complex consists of at least four distinct squares (Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square and Pottery Square), the whole area is informally known as the Bhaktapur Durbar Square and is a highly visited site in the Kathmandu Valley. In the afternoon, there will be a meeting program with the road captain and he will brief you about your tour, safety and overall plan of you Motorbike tour and there will be a test drive of Motorbikes around Kathmandu.
Enjoy a steep winding descent to Trishuli with the beautiful scenery along rolling hills, deep forests, and flowing streams. Negotiate traffic out of the Kathmandu city to the Ring Road cross section - Balaju. From here, follow the Nagarjun highway to Kakani through the winding and narrow forested road. From here it is a steep winding descent till Trishuli but the scenery is fantastic. We stop for lunch in Trishuli. After lunch we head north and continue our ride to Dhunche. From here, we follow a steep descend on a winding and snaky trail till Syabrubesi. Deep forested areas, with clear flowing streams and waterfalls offer you an impression on what Nepal is all about. The beauty of the area cannot be easily forgotten. The rolling hills, Trishuliriver, ethnic villages, suspension bridges all make it a very interesting ride. Upon arrival at Syabrubesi, check in to the lodge. Rest of the day is free to relax or explore around the village. Overnight in SyabruBesi (best available local tea house)
After breakfast ride approx. 20 km to Kerung - Nepal / Tibet border, the last border town, complete Nepali Immigration formalities and cross the friendship bridge. After completing the Chinese Immigration formalities, we will be met by a guide and a driver from Tibet. Proceed for China Custom clearance for the motorcycles and after completion, load up the gear on the awaiting Landcruiser / Mini Truck and ride for another 24 km to Kerung town. Upon arrival check in at the Hotel. Rest of the day is free to relax or explore around the town to acclimatize. KERUNG Kerung, one of the frontier counties of Tibet Autonomous Region, lies in the southwest of Tibet and the southwest of Xigaze prefecture, covering 9,126 square kilometers with a population of about ten thousand. Kerung means happy village in Tibetan. Kerung town is one of the important towns in Kerung County, with a sea level of 2,700m. Pagba Monastery, Chagar Monastery and Qiangzhen Monastery are main monasteries of Kerung and KerungJiangcun Nature Reserve is a famous beauty spot. Up to 1960, one of the main trade routes between Nepal and Tibet passed through this region. Easily accessible from Nepal, it was used several times as an entrance gate for military actions from the site of Nepal against Tibet. Upon arrival check in at the Hotel, rest of the day is free to relax or explore around the town to acclimatize.Overnight in Kerung
After breakfast, we continue our bike tour towards Tingrithrough well paved road over the highest plateau of the world with the typical view of Tibetan landscape offering you the feeling of standing on the roof of the world. We also witness beautiful small lakes such as Pekutso Lake, the local settlement with their daily unique activities. Today’s main highlight will be the magnificent view of Mt. Everest (8848m) and others neighboring mountain peaks. Overnight in Tingri
Today we ride towards the main highlight of the tour i.eEverest Base Camp (North side).Mostly the road is graveled and dusty which was the route of classic trekking route. On the way to the Base Camp we can observe small villages and beautiful mountains including Mt. Cho Oyu in a distance, and pass high passes like Lamna-La (5150m) and Pang-La (5350m). We ride our bikes till Rongbuk Monastery, which is a 10 min’s walk from the camping site of Everest Base Camp. After enjoying a wonderful time in the Base Camp, we visit RongbukMonastery and return back to Tingri for overnight. Overnight in Tingri
Ride back to Kerungwitnessing the vastness of Tibetan landscape with a breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan range. Overnight in Kerung
Cross Nepal-Tibet Friendship Bridge and ride towards Kathmandu. In the evening farewell Dinner with cultural dance show.
